INSTITUTIONAL PROMOTIONS COMMITTEE DATA SHEET

Purpose/Charge

To review all faculty applications for promotion in academic rank.

 

Objectives

To forward committee recommendations concerning promotion to the Vice President of Academic Affairs and the Vice President of Student Affairs.

 

Membership

   CONSTITUENT GROUPS REPRESENTED AND NUMBER:

            One (1) member from each of the divisions with full-time faculty.

 

   TERMS OF SERVICE:

Committee members shall be elected by full-time faculty in their divisions for three-year staggered terms, and if at all possible, shall not be eligible for re-election to a successive term.  Committee members whose terms are expiring shall have their area select a replacement by May 1.  Committee members applying for promotion shall have their area elect replacements to serve during the year of application.

 

   OFFICERS:

The committee shall elect a chairperson and a secretary by March 15.  The terms of office for both officers shall be one year.

 

Meetings

   ORGANIZATIONAL:

The chairperson will convene the committee by October 15 for setting meeting times, reviewing promotion materials and process.  It is recommended that application materials of past recipients be made available for review, in the VPAA office for those applying for promotion.  Before the end of the school year, the Committee will prepare and distribute a memorandum apprising all full-time faculty of the timeline for the promotions process and the availability of Promotions Procedures and necessary forms.

 

   FREQUENCY:

            As needed, meetings to be scheduled and announced one week in advance.  Meetings may be called upon shorter notice when all committee members agree to meet or to waive their right of notification.

 

   TIME/LOCATION:

            Chairperson shall set time and dates of meetings with approval of the committee.

 

   QUORUM:

            Three-fourths of the membership.
