We, the Harper College Faculty, declare this Chapter to have the following purposes:

1. To increase the usefulness and to advance the ideals, standards, and welfare of its Members.
2. To promote the interests of the students, the faculty and the community in higher education.
3. To safeguard the guarantees and implementation of academic freedom, the Contract, and tenure laws.
4. To cooperate with teacher organizations and with organized labor in achieving democratic programs and practices.
5. To take positions on social and political matters through agreement of the Assembly of Local 1600 of the Cook County Teachers Union.
6. To seek and attain these objectives by orderly democratic processes.
