  • On Saturday, February 12, Deborah Damcott, Maggie Geppert, Brenna Lorenz, and Collette Marsh from the Department of Physical Sciences participated in the inaugural GEMS: Girls Empowered by Math and Science event at Conant High School. Approximately 165 fifth and sixth grade girls participated in a number of interactive activities and workshops. These four faculty members set up interactive displays on useful minerals, momentum, mirrors, and motors. The highlight for the girls was a demonstration of static electricity using the department’s Van de Graaf generator.

  • Collette Marsh recently attended the Conference for Industry and Education Collaboration (CIEC) in San Antonio, Texas. This conference was sponsored by the American Society for Engineering Education.
