  • Patrick Beach hosted the 110th Conference of the International Foodservice Executives Association in Schaumburg. Over 700 people participated in educational programs and competitions. The Quartermaster General of the United States Army and the Admiral of the Naval Supply Systems were present awarding sailors & soldiers prizes related to Army & Navy food services.
  • Patrick was awarded the DODG, IFSEA‘s highest honor. The Dignified Order of the Dinner Gong is awarded to individuals who make substantial impact on IFSEA‘s international activities and the greater food service industry.
  • The Food Service Club team coached by adjunct faculty Patricia Doepke placed first in IFSEA‘s Bistro Competition beating Johnson & Wales University, SUNY Morrisville, Army and Navy culinary teams. The teams had to prepare a four-course meal from a mystery basket of food items in 90 minutes. 
  • The Hospitality Department participated in a variety of activities related to Hoffman Estate‘s Sister Cities‘ annual exchange. Chef Patrick Guat and his students (from southwest France) participated in classes with the Hospitality Department. The French nationals assisted Patrick Beach in preparing a meal themed on the former French colonies in northern Africa 
  • and served the meals during the International Studies hosted Conference titled, Hope for the Future: Harambee for Africa on April 15. The annual fundraising dinner held at Stone Gate Conference Center was prepared by the French nationals with assistance from Harper faculty and students.
  • The Hospitality Department hosted site visit tours on behalf of Admissions Outreach including onsite visits from the ESL Department
