  • On Sept. 1 Karen Chandra attended a Hematology Lectureship Series for oncology nurses on Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia that was sponsored by the Chicago Western Suburbs Chapter of the Oncology Nursing Society at Edwards Hospital in Naperville. This conference addressed the treatment, response monitoring and the nursing care of patients with chronic myelogenous leukemia.
  • On Sept. 29 – Oct. 2 Karen Chandra will be attending the National League for Nursing Summit in Las Vegas, NV. This conference is entitled “Shaping History, Reforming Health Care: The Power of Nursing Education” and will include a variety of topics such as simulation, utilizing technology in the classroom, creating engagement in the classroom, and strategies to prepare nursing students for disasters.
  • Networking and making decisions for a professional organization is essential to professional growth. The direction an organization proceeds is dictated by the governing board of the organization and its members. Julie D’Agostino led the delegation of the Illinois Emergency Nurses to the National General Assembly in San Antonio, TX on Sept. 22 & 23. At this meeting the organization voted on changes to the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) bylaws and proposed resolutions.
